Best Practices

Where can I go to get a list of "Best Practices" for Inventor Parametric Modeling, sketching, etc. for users migrating from Autocad?

When you start Inventor and before you have opened a file, look to the ribbon.

Here you have from left to right:

  • What's New
  • Getting Started
  • Tutorials
  • Learning Resouces
  • Show me Animations
  • Wiki Help

I'm sure you will agree; a wealth of information.

You could also check out our support page; link shown below:

Look in this thread: http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Autodesk-Inventor/IS-INVENTOR-REALLY-USEFUL/m-p/1332811

There are 82 posts in the thread, but post #8 is a mini-thesis by Walt Jaquith on best practices in 3D modeling in Inventor.  It probably applies pretty well to any parametric modeling software.  I keep a copy of this on my computer to remind me every year or so of the fundamentals...  Thanks, Walt.
