I'm getting started with CNC routing with the immediate application of bass guitar fabrication and also fabrication of related hardware. I've been test driving Inventor LT with HSM express for 2.5d work, and that is proceeding well. However, I cannot afford the full version of HSM at 8 grand.
So I'm looking at affordable "hobbyist" 3D CAM packages. So far, I'm leaning towards MeshCAM.
Is that a reasonable choice? Are there better choices?
