Bend note incorrect

Dear IV user,

Why doesn't IV changes the directionway of an bend in the bend note.

When u place an flatpattern view with an the view orientation "default" the bend note gives " UP ....."
When you place a the same flatpattern with the view oriantaion now on " Backsite" he still gives "UP...." insteat of Down.

You are correct.
BUG

There is another issue I found while trying out the bend table issue you found. I had 2 views one front side. one back side orientated so the longer portion of my part was horizontal.
I added a couple more flanges just for giggles and I returned to the drawing and it rotated both my views 90 degrees so now the long parts are going verticle.

Here is an image about what the OP is talking about.
Notice the countersink for front/back orientation.

Hi Theo Bot,

The base face used in unfolding determines what direction is up or down for
bends. Drawing manager uses this information for bend notes and tables. It
sounds like you just let the unfolder pick the base face and what it came up
with was opposite of what you wanted. To fix it go back to the flat pattern
model, right-click and edit the flat pattern defintion. Then flip the base
face. You can also specify the base face with a face preselection on flat
pattern creation.

There was another thread on this

I hope this helps,

Hi mcgyver,

The flipping thing sounds like a separate issue. I will try to catpure it.
It might help if you posted the part. My email is
haroldleeautodeskcom.

Thanks,

Harold

Harold,
So are you going to do what Seth talks about in the post you attached in a hotfix or SP1?

IMO I fully agree with Brett/theo bot and the ability to annote on the backface IS required and SHOULD show the correct direction for bends.
I would consider this a BUG or another half finished feature by Autodesk.

I don't write coding but come on how hard could it be

Write some coding for the drawing stating that if the backface view is selected that anytime the benddirection is down the you write benddirection value as up and if benddirection is up then you write benddirection value as down.

I can't comment on what we will do or when. Or even how hard it would be.
I will say that since Seth chimed in on that thread the product designer is
well aware of these issues. Seth is the sheet metal product designer.

Dear Harold Lee,

I know what you mean but thats not realy my point.
I made a small video so you can see what is wrong.

Kind regard,

Harold,
I am having a problem with this. I already have the flat pattern in an idw with dims on it. When I go to the part, edit the flat pattern and "flip" the direction of the base Face, it really messes up the dims that I have already placed on the view in the idw. Also, it looks to me that the bend direction is still noted incorrectly after the flip.

Harold,

Can you tell me how you "flip" the direction of the base Face?

Go to your flat pattern in the browser. Right-click on "Flat Pattern" chose "Edit Flat Pattern Definition", then chose the "Flip" button under the Orientation tab.

This is for Inventor R2008. Not sure if it is in pre R2008.
