Bend angles in IDW

When I put a flat pattern on a drawing (idw), I attach a leader with some
text like "Bend 27° up". I have measured the bend angle to 27° in the part
environment. This leader will of course not update if I change the part.

I have been looking for a "Bend Notes" command - similar to the "Holes /
Thread Notes" command...

Is it possible to get the bend angle?

One way to have an updating bend angle in your note is to insert a Model or
User Parameter as part of the note text.

I know this has been requested, but there is no way of doing it right now.

I was going to say "easy automatic" way of doing this, but as Allen has
mentioned it can be done, just requires a little workaround.

We are aware of the desirability of a new annotation type for bends.

When this is implemented I would expect it to work much the same way as hole
notes and be fully associative.

Inserting Model or User Parameters in a note just moves the problem from the
idw to the part.
If the bends are made with the Flange command then the angle is a known
input. But if it is made by creating faces on a lofted, sloped, part, then
the angle is unknown to the designer.
You could say that the bend angle is an output from the design i stead of an
input.

As I read the answer from Steve Dennis (Autodesk) I just have to wait for a
new version.

Thanks for input!

A couple of years back we used this trick.

1) Create an dummy part with an undercontraint sketch of a triangle. Create
a driven dimension which indicates the angel. Check this dimension for
export.
2) Insert this part into your assembly, make it adaptive and constrain it to
your "fold". Make sure that the dummy-part is correctly orientated.
3) Inside your IDW: Use a leader to extract the value of the driven angel
dimension of your dummy-part.

Voila!
