Batch convert to PDF

Sorry to post such a often repeated question, but the group search feature is not working and I have spent a few hours on this now, without any success.

In Inventor 2008, I know I can use the Inventor Task Scheduler to convert a bunch of inventor drawings into PDF's. However, I recall that it was not a straightforward process. The drop-down list where you might have chosen ".pdf" did not show ",pdf". I think you had to manually type it in.... well my memory is quite vague on what to do, and where.

How do you batch export PDF's?

Thank You,
Joe Dunfee

Hi Joe,

Please batch print the drawing as PDF with following steps:
1. Set Adobe PDF as your default printer
2. Set the correct printing preferences, the output folder should be [path]\*.pdf (see the attached screenshot)
3. Go to Task Scheduler, create a Print Files task to print drawing

Please Let me know if it helps.

Thanks,
Tim

Just a tips: please insure your drawings are not duplicated in file names.

Thanks,
Tim

Are you talking about using a system printer driver from Adobe? It doesn't show up as a pritner in my system printer, nor from within Inventor. However, we do have a 3rd party PDF system printer. So, I imagine that would be a good substitute... though I imagine the file size for the saved PDF's would be larger.

For some reason, I seemed to think there was another way. But, since my memory is so vague on this, I will just ignore those thoughts.

Thank you for the reply.

If I SAVEAS a PDF, my output looks fine.

If I print to a PDF printer, I have banding as shown in the attached file.

Any suggestions?

Hi Jason,

Please refer to the thread http://discussion.autodesk.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=693568
If it is no help, could you please send an email to zhonglin.nong@autodesk.com? I can
send you a secure ftp site to upload your dataset if possible. This will help
a great deal to look in to the issue that you are facing.

Thanks,
Tim
