Base Units ?

Hi All

I was just wondering why there is no base unit for parts based on Area?

I model a lot of parts that are made from Plate.

When you order or sell plate it is usually sold by the Square Meter

The same would go for Square millimeter, Square foot etc.

Also other base units would be handy like Pack, Box, Carton I am sure there are many more.

The main one I really can't do without is Square Meter.

I assume you want to use the SM Flat Pattern extents as an Annotation in the
drawing.

Use the Text function, under Type choose Sheet Metal Properties, under
Properties choose Flat Pattern Extents ...

See attached.

That feature must have been added in 2009...

About month ago i've posted Vault Pro Units issue report https://www.google.com.ua/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&ved=0CC4QFjAA&url=http%3A...

Yesterday I finally got message from techsupport - they are ready to look into problem but "they have some difficulties with issue reproducing thus they want we help them with".

I started to reproduce my own procedure just to face that I can't set "Base Unit" to anything like "mm^2", "cm^2", "m^2" etc anymore!!!!

I'm pretty sure it was possible* just about month ago, I even have evidece (screenshot and model itself with Base unit set to "m^2"). But now I can't create any new model with area base unit (Inventor just filters out user parameters with area units from "Base Quantity" dpro-down list).

As far as I remeber thee were no any updates to the inventor for last month so I'm extremely puzzled regarding reason the function gone.

Does anybody suffer same problem?

Could some OS update chane the Inventor brhaviour regarding Base unit?

* At least in Inventor 2012
