Balloons to call out custom properties?

just like the title says, i want my custom property to defined as item #. That Item # then is represented in the balloon.

reasoning is that then engineers wont have to check drawings anymore for the guess work involved in matching the part balloon to each individual part in the assembly being called out.

I can then focus on creating a BOM that shows the different item#'s and the user can quickly go through it.

any help would be apreciated! Please just point me to a direction and i can figure it out myself. Any ILOGIC would help  too.

Thanks!

We use the Stick Number iProperty for our ballooning.

We have the Part Number iProperty mapped to the Stock Number.

Then we simply edited the ballon style to use the Stock Number.

In your style setting you could simply just have the style utilize the Part Number iProperty.

Hi m.teleguz1,

To follow up on what mpatchus has typed, you might ( I can't recall) need to place a part with the custom iProperty in it first to be able to use it. See this link for more information:

http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/Inventor-General/ipt-Custom-iProperties-to-idw-Title-Block/m-p/3796415...

You might also be interested in this link, about creating a coordinated BOM item numbers:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

What Mike outlined seems to be the way the help file says as well.

Itis also close to an idea that I proposed some time ago.  If the current method is not what you are looking for you can always post an idea or tag a thought to the one I created.
