automatically resize box around text in a sketched symbol

is there a way to automatically resize a box around text, eg the text string gets longer or more lines and the box automatically resizes to suit. it works for baloons but i want to do something a little bore complicated for a sketched symbol

Out-of-the-box, no; with additional custom code,
yes.

agreed we have tried it loads of times. From memory its because the text box size doesn't grow with the text. we always just end up using balloons. and maybe combine them with a symbol Edited by: scottmoyse on Jan 20, 2010 10:16 PM

Stephen,

Can you use a datum identifier symbol without a leader? So, the workflow
would be something like...
1. Create the datum identifier symbol with the initial text you want.
Note, it can float on the sheet.
2. Delete the leader.
3. Edit the datum identifier symbol adding additional text.
The box around the text should grow (or shrink) depending on the text inside
the datum identifier symbol. Granted this is a work around, but it might
work for you.

Hope this helps...
