Nothing like starting the week with a smile, Unbuntu or Linux. This will keep me smiling most of the week.

Searching through the forum it's kind of amazing how much this is brought up and how quickly it's dismissed.
I wonder how much Microsoft pays Autodesk to not support Linux.

At the end of the day, Autodesk has to answer to the shareholders who are demanding a return on their investment. The corporate world, where ADSK makes the majority of their income and profits, runs Windows and to a much lesser extent iOS. As it is ADKS offers all their products free to students to use through their educational license systems.

I don't want to get into discussions the Linux is better or worse, it just comes down to where is your revenue generated and maximizing profits and return to the shareholders.

When businesses like mine are forced to run Windows to be able to use the software they need it's very hard to quantify how many people would run Linux if they had the choice.
Autodesk is the only reason I run windows.

This forum is for issues with existing software and configurations. For all enhancements and additions the IdeaStation is the place to make these requests.

This is not the AutoCAD forum.

Do you know how to use Google or other search engines to do research?

How much CAD experience do you have?

Hi! If you are interested in Autodesk's competitor, this is the wrong place. Please go to our competitor's forums. It is true that Inventor only runs natively on Windows, since it is a Windows-based application. AutoCAD is much more versatile. It has a web version (https://web.autocad.com/login). You can run it on a web browser in Linux.

Many thanks!
