So let me understand this Autodesk now has split up
autocad into mechanical and electrical now. Looked up the press release and to
page, it sounds like as Subscription holders we now have another version we do
not get. Found nothing for subscription holders to down load there or on the
subscription page.  Please correct me if you find otherwise, before things
start up again about what we are not getting with our subscriptions
dollars.

Without getting who gets what with a subscription, I have been using
this WD product for years. If your aren't using it, you owe it to
yourself to check it out.

What, they can't create new software now for the remainder of the company history w/o giving it to you because you bought IV subscription? This is an electrical package. No different than mapping, architectural etc. It doesn't correlate to an IV subscription.

As someone who designs and builds automated manufacturing equiptment,
this corellates very closely. We use the WD product document the
electrical control system (limit switches, motors, PLC, etc.). In this
task WD is an excellent addin (?).

LOL - that was timely. I was talking about the triangle Friday. Every project I get these days is supposed to be cheaper, better, and done quicker than ever before. No tooling, lower buy quantities, and on the same computer I bought 3 years ago though.

Both my kids have better IV workstations than what I have at work. They should be pretty ashamed a 6 year old is better equipped.

Since AutoCAD Electrical is a standalone product and has it's
own subscription fee structure I don't see how it relates to the Inventor
Subscription side of things.

If you look at the Inventor Pro section of
Autodesks web site, under features/benefits, it talks about incorporating VIA,
which I believe is what is being run under AutoCAD for AutoCAD electrical. It
appears that with an IVP subscription you will get AutoCAD Electrical plus the
ability to do harnesses and routing in Inventor.

I guess it's how you read between the lines. You might be
correct about AC Electrical as part of the Pro package but I think the
"technology" part might be the ability to read the AC Electrical data into
the planned "Wire Harness" package for connections. In any case I think it
would be a step in the right direction.

Basic AutoCAD also can be bought as a standalone
and does have it's own subscription fee structure I believe, but also
comes with IV. So that would seem to be a mute point. This all goes back to what
I had been told by my VAR last spring, which also included bad info on now
what is pro so I should not have been surprised . But as he's no longer
there!
