This is a bit of a strange issue. I opened a file yesterday from inside windows explorer just by double clicking it and letting windows open Inventor. The odd part was that Inventor had a different layout when I did this. I closed the Inventor but now when I open it up it has that different layout. I've attached a picture of how it currently looks and how I want it to look. My goal is to get it to look like it did after installation. Does anyone know why it just changed or how I can get it back to the original?
Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, Inventor 2010 Professional.
Thanks

Hi..
So...You want the Ribbon Interface and not the Classic Interface.
in order to change the user interface you may go to Tools \ Application Options \ Colors ... and in the bottom of the dialog box you can choose the interface that you want. Classic or Ribbon.
It has been said that opening Inventor files from explorer like that can cause issues because of it not recognizing your project/application settings properly.. Truth or not I don't know..But I've never opened INV files from explorer.
You are correct.
Opening an Inventor assembly by double-clicking from Vault Explorer has been known to break links randomly.
It's been the case since about rev 2009 or so. I've seen it happen numerous times and three different companies.
I've had to go around and set the double-click open option to "view" instead.
The other issue is by double-clicking the file to open, it is loading the last saved version settings of the file.
For example, say the file was last saved in 2011 and you now use 2012, but by double-clicking, you are basically opening the file in 2011 or with it's settings per sey. Not sure how else to explain it, but I'm seeing it here as we still have 2011 installed and active until IT can get a service window available to uninstall them.
I've had to restore the ribbon many times after running Task Manager migrations, though it was probably because of all the crashes due to Inventor having to work with files from some obscure little abandonware program known as Mechanical Desktop.
