OK - maybe you are missing some basic MDT tricks.
You need to convert the ACAD file into MDT parts, so pick amnew command and
select any of the the 3dsolids, watch the command line if it's telling you
about errors. You may need to explode the ACAD blocks first before being
able to convert them to parts. Do a list command of every piece - if it's
telling you 3dsolid, you won. If it's telling you block, you need to explode
it one more time. If it's telling you surface, body, or region, you lost the
right path.
Just another workaround:
Open file in MDT, do a amacisout/all, open newly created file (has the file
extension *.sat) in IV, save.
