auger

Hi

I have attached a file of a shaft. How do i add the spiral part to the shaft so as to model a Auger?

Estimated measurements are below:

The height of the spiral Auger is 12" and has a thickness of 1/4" ..

Distance between Auger spirals is 12" apart

I`m not sure but would i project the spiral sketch onto the shaft, then extrude and use a sweep. If this is correct i do not now how to sketch the spiral shape onto the Shaft.

Any help appreciated

Play around with Coil(model tab) or Helical Curve(3d sketch).
Probably can find some video tutorials with a google search.

I think you could try to use the Thread command to create it. Start the Thread command, in the "Location" tab of the dialog, select the face you want to add the thread. And then select the thread type you want in the "Specification" tab.

I attached a part file for your reference.

Hope that helps.

Thanks.

Yeah, the coil feature is the most direct for this application. I have modified your part to get you started. You might want to play around with the end conditions.
