attaching existing dims to INV dwg centerlines

Is anyone having difficulty attaching an existing dimension to a centerline in INV 2011SP1?  In doesn't matter if the centerline is an included work plane, center mark or a centerline bisector.  It is not only dimensions that won't re-attach, but also sketched symbols and leaders.  I've tried setting "edge priority", and "feature priority".  Neither works.  The centerline will highlight like it is being chosen to attach, but I get an error message that definition points are no longer attached.

Yep

Had a set of dimensions go pink this morning and could not re-attached them to the centrelines. I ended up deleting them and replacing with new. I have had this a lot over the last few weeks, but have not sent it to support yet.

Thanks for responding Martin.  It helps to know you're not alone in your struggles.  Hopefully, we'll get a "fix" response better than delete and re-dimension....

I have seen this as well. If you re-attach the dim to the center of the circle, and then re-attach it to the centerline, it works.

Yes, reattching to the center of the circle and then back to the leader works.... But when you are dimensioning to a bisector centerline, this won't work. It will not recognize the centerline???

Right, and I include a lot of work planes (mostly origin, but some user planes too).  I'm surprised this isn't a greater object of discussion...  Hopefully, a hotfix is in the works.  Autodesk????

Since I'm on the subject, would anyone else like to have origin planes highlight in the drawing area when you are hovering over them in the browser so you can choose the right one to include?

I have seen the same behavior when trying to re-attached bend callouts to bend lines.  I have delete and re-create these as well.

I put in a support request a while back and at the start of November I received this update :

This is an update to your Support Request. Our development team has tentatively scheduled to deliver a fix in: The next Service Pack (Inventor 2011 SP2), available in approximately two to four months.

Hope it does get fixed soon as it is a real pain.

Yes I also can not wait for this fix, tired of redimentioning, especially chain dimentions.

I noticed this first day I upgraded to 2011. But was too busy to submit a support ticket.

Hi

It appears there is hotfix for this. I have downloaded it and it does seem resolve the problems with attaching dimensions to centremarks and centrelines.

Confirmed, works on both centerlines and centremarks.

My office will be very happy to see this hotfix!
