assy & boms...

What determines the line number of a part in an assembly when you go to
balloon it out? Is it order of insertion?

Yes. This can be changed by dragging BOM line up or down and then selecting
renumber, this moethod is permanent. Or you can manually renumber them and
select sort, however this method is not permanent and if you delete the BOM
the numbers revert.

Mark:

I believe it is the order in which they appear in the browser of the
assembly.

I have used this to my advantage by sequencing the parts in the
assembly, then having the numbers assigned in the drawing the way I'd
like them.

Mark:

I did an end run around forgetting the caps lock - I switched to using
lower case on my drawings. It makes them way easier to read. I know
it's not ANSI but I figure those standards were based on hand-written
letters, not computer type-set.

Mark my words, this is the beginning of the revolution to change that
standard.
