assembly

Hi

When inserting parts into a assembly can parts be modified within the assembly and then changes saved to the part permanently.I have a tank with holes in the top.The cap has no holes yet so can i from within the assembly create the holes in the cap using the holes already created in the tank and save them permanently?

Regards

Edit the Cap in the context of the assembly (right click on Cap in browser and select Edit - it should not already be open).

Project geometry the hole location from the tank. (this is called Adaptive top-down modeling)

or

don't even place the holes just yet in the tank
create your sketch for the location and then use the Bolted Connection design accelerator to place fasteners and holes at the same time (using Bolted Connection Generator will create the holes at the part level and add the fasteners).

or

use the holes you have already created with the Bolted Connection generator.
