Assembly Tree

I have noticed that in Inventor 6, one cannot move parts up or down the tree in the browser. This was possible with previous releases. Can this be fixed, and the reasoning behind this also, anyone?

It was removed by mistake 8~) A bit tongue in cheek, but search the ng for
"reorder" and look for posts by Gary R. Smith (?? help me out here, Larry)
for details.

Whether it will be fixed is yet to be seen, but it will not happen before next
full release.

It's missed.

Set to music: "Here I come ... to save the day" ... or is that too old
to be recognizable anymore?

That ability was removed due to the new weldment feature and dependency
issues, I think. While reordering was possible in previous releases, there
were still dependency issues that would prevent some reordering. Example:
you can't move a fillet above the part it's dependant on. There are no known
firm decisions as to whether this ability will be restored but it is being
taken into consideration. Seems to me there will always be dependency issues
to consider. While you can't move the parts any more, you can still move the
EOP to where you want a particular part and create it there as opposed to
the bottom of the browser.

What version of IV are you running Larry? I don't have an EOP marker in assy mode.

You won't till you add an assembly sketch or
feature.

And it will be a EOF (End of Features) marker not a
EOP marker..

Right. It still won't do what Larry suggested (organize placement of new parts).

Features ... yeah features ... (fall on sword). I
think I must'a left the mixer running inside my skull on that one. Are you sure
there is a difference in parts and assemblies, Mech? <G> I think I'm
running ... uh ... uh ... uh ... R-Never maybe?
