Assembly Template

I want to make an assembly template that will consist of a few basic extrusions constrained together. Once I open the template and save it I need to insert a frame .ipt that I will build via the frame generator (IV2008). The whole thing will be parameter driven when done. What is the best way to do this? When saving the assembly template, where should the remaining files be stored? Somewhere in the default project? What would be the best way to have the parameters link? Should I create a parameter template from a standard .ipt file or should I embed or link an excel sheet to the template?

This can be accomplished well on R2008 and please see the steps below -
1. New an assembly and place the desired component
2. Save the assembly
3. Copy the assembly and its reference files to ...\Autodesk\Inventor 2008\Templates folder

When you create assmebly, you will get the customized template.

Thanks. Would the same apply for the parameters file?
