Assembly linear motion with distance constraint

Hi, Is posible to make a constraint that limits the distance from a certain point an object can move. I alredy have a part with 1 degree of freedom , but I want to also limit the amount of distance it can move.

Thanks.

What version of Inventor?

2011 has assembly constraint limits.

For versions older than 2011, here's the procedure:

Ok. So with "asemble" constratins I will be able to move an object from 0 to 600 mm along an axis, but not further 600 mm. Right?

Give it a try.

2011 Yes.

2010 & earlier, use the procedure I posted

I tried it, using Assemble in Position tab. I used the automatic option with 500 mm . But with that the solid stuck 500mm from the reference plane. I cannot move it to a shorter distance. What I'm doing wrong?

Thanks.

Here's the 2011 files as an example.

What is the proper method in Inventor 2010? I have seen the example by technicgroup but it seems tedious to draw workplanes. How do we use the linear min and max offsets in 2010?

The Linear constraint limits are not available in Inventor 2010. You will need to use the techniques I posted earlier in this thread for all earlier versions, including 2010.
