I haven't played with assembly features much, until I tried to do what
you're after...no dice. In their present form (no revolve extrude, and no
provision to add material), assembly features are not going to do what you
want, which surprised me. Hopefully the development team will add
functionality in future releases.
Here's a workaround to explore: Create the tube part without the
deformation. Now derive that part into another part, and add the
deformation as a regular part feature. The original part can be used in the
manufacturing documentation, and the derived part in the assembly drawing.
You'll have to juggle a few entries in the parameters to get them both to
show the same part number, but it shouldn't be too much of an inconvenience.
A competitor of Inventor (with some justification) loudly touts a feature of
it's software that allows different versions of a part, all in the same part
file. Autodesk has been really quiet on the subject, which from my
experience usually means that they're secretly cooking up an implementation
of the same idea that will be better than the other guy's feature. I hope
that's what is happening this time.
