Assembly features are great but........

Having just traded up to version 7 from 5.3, I am playing with lots of "new"
features.

I like the assembly features in 7, but 3 times this week when editing parts
within assemblies, I have inadvertently edited in the assembly and not in
the part. Having made quite a complex sketch in an assembly by mistake, it
would be nice if you could just drag it into the part but you can't. Is
there a way round this, or do you just have to be extra careful when doing
part edits within assemblies now?

thanks,
John

You can copy/paste it to any sketch within another part (switch to modeling
view first).

Can't you copy/paste, from that sketch, onto an ipt sketch plane? Just
watch out for projected geo, you could lose some stuff! (sounds like an
inventor warning)

Thanks (and Peer). Just seemed it would be nice to just drag the sketch down
the assy and drop it on the part though....

OK - try this then:
RMB-copy your IAM-sketch.
Double-click the part you want it in.
Click on a sketch plane or a part surface.
RMB-paste.
This gives you a new sketch in the part with your geometry on it.

john,
I'm sure it's got some priority. Pushing assembly features down into
parts has been brought up quite a few times now.
