ASP.Net errors on ADMS 2008 installation

I am using Autodesk Inventor 2008 in single user environment and am trying to install Autodesk Data Management Server 2008 and Content library from same disk. I am getting error messages that all seem to relate to ASP.net. I have tried to find answers on forums but dont get results that apply to Windows Vista Ultimate. I am a complete novice and need some clear instruction on fixing the problem. I installed Inventor with Autodesk Data Management Server all at once 18 months ago and it all seemed to install fine. But since then I have done reinstall of Inventor but did not install ADMS at the time. Not sure if this could be causing the problem., also have User account - ASP.Net machine account, dont know what this is or how it got there.
I am contemplating doing a complete fresh install as last resort.

Following are the error messages I got on install:

*Accessing an http static file failed at URL http://localhost/TestASP/TestASPNetStatic.txt

*Get IIS connection time out failure

ASPX file failed to run at URL: http://localhost/TestASP/TestASPNet.aspx (MEANS: the test ASPX did not run properly. Re-register the ASP.Net filters. At the command line enter:c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_regiis -i) this command did not work in Vista.

I would really appreciate some help with ASP.Net and IIS if possible.

Can anyone give me a solution to the above problem. I have been trying to sort this out for couple of days with no luck.
Be much appreciated, thanks.

Hi,

possibly this is the same issue:

Citation:
Issue

When you installed the Autodesk Data Management Server (ADMS) on the Microsoft Vista™ operating system, an error occurred during the pre-checks on the TestASPNetStatic.txt file.

Solution

To resolve this error

Click Start menu (Windows) > Settings > Control Panel.
In the Control Panel, double-click Programs.
In the Programs and Features group, select Turn Windows Features On or Off.
When you are prompted to allow the application to run, click Continue.
Expand Internet Information Services > World Wide Web Services > Common HTTP Features.
Select the Static Content check box.
Click OK.
Close the Pre-checks dialog box and restart the installation.

Thanks Alex, I have used that fix, think it cleared up the TestASPNetStatic error. But the main problem is the ASPX file failed to run at URL: http://localhost/TestASP/TestASPNet.aspx.
Have tried this fix mentioned in forums:

This error may occur if .NET 2.0 is installed prior to the installation of Microsoft® Internet Information Services (IIS), and the ASP.NET account does not have the proper permissions on the IIS Metabase.
To correct this issue
Click Start menu (Windows) > Run.
In the Run dialog box, enter cmd and then click OK.
On the command line, enter the following:

cd %systemroot%\microsoft.net\framework\v2.0.50727\

On the command line, enter the following, depending on your environment:
 Windows XP: aspnet_regiis.exe -ga ASPNET
 On a server: aspnet_regiis.exe -ga "%computername%\Network Service"
Note: On some servers, entering aspnet_regiis.exe -ga "Network Service" is sufficient. On localized servers you have to use the localized "Network Service" user name.
Enter IISRESET.
Run the pre-checks again to verify that the error has been resolved.

I dont think I am entering localized server name/network service correct as Command does not recognise file.
Not sure what to enter as I am single user on Vista system.

I have just tried to find error by entering: URL: http://localhost/TestASP/TestASPNet.aspx in to browser and got message: Access denied. (see attached file for complete details)
I presume I do not have correct permissions for file. Tried to change permissions Properties/Security Tab but wont let me change them. I am single user/administrator so dont know why this happens?

Hopefully someone out there can advise me on this. Please.

Hi,

for the http://localhost/TestASP/TestASPNet.aspx fail please try following change:

Open Internet Information Service Manager in Vista.
Go to Application Pools in the tree.
Select DefaultAppPool
If you doubleclick it you should see Advanced Settings dialog.
Change the Managed Pipeline Mode to Classic.

Close the IIS Manager, maybe restart the system (should not be needed),

Try again the ADMS installation check.

Please let me know if that resolved your problem.

Hi

Thanks for the reply but I have fixed the problem. Maybe someone else might

appreciate how I fixed error message:

ASPX file failed to run at URL: http://localhost/TestASP/TestASPNet.aspx

Paste that URL in to your browser and Enter, if it doesnt run, the browser

will give details of error, which will read something similiar to the

following:

Compiler Error Message: CS0016: Could not write to output file

'c:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET

Files\xxxxx\xxxxx\xxxxx\App_Code.xxxxxxx.dll' -- 'Access is denied.

Here is the link I found that solved the problem:

not.html
