Application settings

My company's engineering department had to move our department to our sister company and use a different server now. Ever since the move my application options have not work. The application option in Inventor 2012 will not save after I close out Inventor. I can change any setting in the application option and apply them as long as I don't close out Inventor. I exported my application settings and then imported them in and still when I shut down inventor the settings go back to the default settings. After I import my settings I get a message that says the my "Design, templates, content center will not go into effect until the current project is reloaded". Now I am a power user. The only other thing I can think of is that me and three others guys share the same two projects files at our work place. What can I do to correct this problem.

Hi!

I had a similar problem which was solved with Inventor2012 Service Pack 1.

My application setting are not saving after I change them. Ever time I change them I get a message that says"Changes to the Default Folder Design Data, Templates, and Content Center files will not take effect until the current project is closed and reloaded." What exactly does this mean, because I've closed out Inventor and I've also switch project. The attachment is a screen shot of the message I get.

All,

Good afternoon!  I have a client who is now running into the exact same issue.  I've exported the Application Options to save time if Inventor is closed, but this is not a long term solution.  Did updating the Service packs resolve the issue?  Does the user have to have local admin rights?  I could NOT replicate the issue on my Inventor 2017.4.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.  Hope all is well and have a most blessed day!

Peace,

Pete

@petestrycharske Yes Inventor requires users to be "local admins" or more specifically to have rights to write to the local registry where those settings are saved..

@petestrycharske

Information related to Application Options and other stuff is stored here HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion<version #>\System\Preferences.   Meaning the user must have the ability to write to this location.

Is this issue related to a given machine/user or impacting many?

It looks to just be this one user and they don't have local admin rights.  I have to wait until tomorrow to get the user elevated rights, but I just wanted to see if anyone had run into that before and if that indeed was the issue.  Sounds like that might be the problem.  I'll try to repost tomorrow after getting the user elevated permissions.  Thanks for the feedback and have a most blessed night!
