Alingning perpendicular center lines in inventor assemblies

i have been trying to align parts using perpendicular center lines.  I am not having much luck accomplishing this with the constaints in inventor.  Does anyone know how to do this. I just want parts to ride up and down a centerline.  I have added a picture for visual.  if i can find out how to do this it will save me much time.

If i have understood, do you want to do a simple axis (hole) coincident with the axis (screw) ?

Mate or Insert.

Attach your assembly here if you can't figure it out and someone will show you solution using your actual assembly.

yes i do, as long as the screw stays perpendicular to the hole so the part can slide up and down on the center line.  i dont want the scew to flip over into the hole as it always does when i try.  i want the scew to remain as shown in the picture but on the center line

You need to set the plane of the bolt constrained to the axis of the hole and then add another constrain to limit the rotation of the bolt on the axis of the hole,

angle or mate with distance between origin planes.

Attach your assembly here if you can't figure it out.

You never stated what version of Inventor you are using - 2015 example attached.

In my haste to create an example (since no assembly was attached) I inadvertently have an interference with the fastener, but you should be able to figure it out from my example (if you have 2015).

Sorry I didn't ascertain the solution.

I have similar desire.

Align parts in an assembly.

Which?

  Constrain?

  Assemble?

  iMate?

I've found no way to snap align two parts and end up simply moving by and until they 'LOOK' like they are as close as possible.

Constraints are what you need.  Use a Mate constraint to constrain the face of Bumper to the edge of Legs.  Use a Mate constraint to constrain the XZ plane of Bumper to the edge of Legs.  Use an Angle constraint to specify the angle of one face of Bumper to one face of Legs.

Inventor 2013 is no longer supported, so I can't create a model for you in that version.
