AIP 8 On an Nvidia Quatro4 980XGL

Hi all

Have a HP xw5000 running xp pro and the afore
mentioned Graphics card. My AIP 7 Installation runs like a dream but my new
installation of AIP 8 will not open up an assembly file. (even if I create one
and open it up again)

It just crashes out without a warning as soon as
the model image is about to get to the screen.

Have tried a range of Nvidia Drivers to combat
the problem to no avail.

Anyone had this problem before?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Regards

David

Have you tried to uninstall Inventor and reinstall it?

OK. Have you tried to disable hardware acceleration to eliminate graphics
card problems?

Yes, I have tested all the settings available on the hardware tab of
application options. The graphics window will display but you cannot use
invetor in any way when acceleration is off. - I have to end the process to
get get back to the desktop.

Did you have virus software running when you installed?

If you change application options / hardware / GDI mode will the
assemblies open? If they don't it is not likely a video problem. If
they do, consider swapping in another video card and see if the problem
still exists. We use the 980 xgl cards in IBM computers and have not
had a problem like you describe. I would expect the problem is
elsewhere. Other things to look for would be multiple video drivers
installed, incorrect chipset drivers and that sort of thing.

with multiple video drivers installed, unless you got hours to find all the right files to delete, there is only one answer and that is to format your drive and reinstall everything. Then install your video card with the cd it came with and do one driver update and then leave it alone.

Well. After hours of looking. My friend, you have
exactly the same problem as I have. This is probably not a graphics issue. I've
tried to change from my Nvidia card to a 3D labs card but it doesn't help. Is it
just the assembly files for you too ? I can start parts and drawings without
problems. If I open or creates an assembly it's goodbye. Haven't tried to
reinstall yet. Strange thing is that Inventor 8 did work last week. This strange
behaviour have started this Monday. And I haven't done anything with my computer
since last week except using the Migration utility and migrated some
files.
