I just updated my old laptop that I gave to my mom about one year ago, 48
Windows updates, 8 software and 3 hardware patches install and I was good to
go, plus the battery was stone cold dead, but hey she's also 78 and
technology delayed.
Somewhere I have audio clip of someone ranting at a Dell support person that
they can't turn off their laptop. This guy is just going off the deep end
while the polite support person keeps trying to get case/file information
from them. After about 5min of ranting/profanity about not giving the
information, he just needs to turn off the &*$(#@! laptop and doesn't want
to give any information. The support person finally tell him to press and
hold the power button for a given period of time. Silence and click.

I kept thinking I should have asked when stragglers would find this problem
that should have hit a long time ago (at least six months, now).
What have you been doing all this time?
Do you spend almost half a year before anything gets put on paper, or are
you just splitting time with other software?
I suppose it's possible the security update did not get installed until now.
Not probable, just possible. I cannot keep them away, but then I have an IT
department spanning several states working against me.
They always say "suddenly", implying that it was working fine before they
went for coffee.
I'm just curious.
