Adding text and lines into round shape?

Is it possible to add text and lines into round parts? Those are for the manufacturer so they can see where exactly all the stuff will be painted on.

Emboss - wrap to face or Decal.

Hi es12,

You'll most likely want to create a work plane that is tangent to the cylindrical face (select an Origin plane and the cylindrical face) , and then sketch on it. Keep in mind that the work plane has a normal (positive) face. If you sketch on the non-normal face your text will be inverted, as if reading it in a mirror. So you can right-click on the work plane and choose Flip Normal if needed.

Once the sketch text is created and fully constrained into the proper place (using dimensions, construction lines, constraints, or some combination of all) then you can use the Emboss tool with the Wrap to Face option, as JDMather suggested.

Attached is an example file, for you to have a look at. I didn't see where you mentioned the version of Inventor you're using, so hopefully you can open this Inventor 2010 file (that's as far back as I can go).

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
