Hé Autodesk dudes,
How about fixing the AdCefWebBrowser.exe*32 bug asap? My students get the tendency to switch to SW.
Grtz, Léon
We haven't seen this at our school, but try this -

Hi JD,
Thnx for your reply. I know the workaround, but it's strange that you have to kill processes that Inventor initiated itself to start the SW. IMHO it's a bug that has to be resolved asap.

"Our Development is still investigating this issue and hopefully a fix will be available soon."
Léon,
What version of 2015 are you running ? Update1, Update2 or SP1 ?
As a test on one of the problem machines:
Do any of these help?
Thanks,
Chris
Hi Chris,
Thnx for your reply.
I'm running IV2015 P on a HP ZBook, SP1 and update 1 and 2 installed. Killing DPAgent.exe does the job. I regard it as a work-around, not as a solution. And no, I'm not gonna ask my student to edit their Registry.

Hello Leon,
Do you have an HP Protect Tools interface where you could turn off the Password Manager? Turning it Off has been a solution to this problem for some users.
Do you use the password manager feature?
There is a post in the middle of this page that describes how to turn it off in more detail:
Thank you,
Clare
Hi Chris
At our college we are also experiencing an error with AdCefBrowser.exe and Inventor 2015.
On startup, an error box appears saying:
The browser process exits unexpectedly. Please check:
1) You have internet connection;
2) Firewall blocks starting the browser process AdCefBrowser.exe;
3) Firewall blocks browser process AdCefBrowser.exe to access internet;
4) Proxy setting in Preferences -> Network.
Do you want to try connecting to the internet again?
Inventor then starts fine, and is usable, but when students try to view the tutorial videos (which is what we want to be able to do), they dont play, as it seems they are being blocked by our internet proxy. The videos are able to play when 'Automatically Detect Settings' is selected in LAN settings in Internet Options in Windows, but we dont want this for all applications on the PCs.
We have tried adding the exceptions, as shown here: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/AutoCAD..., but the videos were still blocked, and the registry edit you described looked hopeful, as it looked like it would force 'Automatically Detect Settings' for Inventor only, but after adding the key, we still received the same error and videos could not be played.
Do you have any other suggestions of what we could try?
Thanks
Graham
Hi Graham,
Do you also get the same problem when going to http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2015/ENU/ in a browser & clicking on Tutorials in the left-side pane ?
If you review this page - https://code.google.com/p/chromiumembedded/wiki/GeneralUsage , you will see a section called "Proxy Resolution" which contains some other options which you can try in the registry:
--proxy-server=host: port
Specify the HTTP/SOCKS4/SOCKS5 proxy server to use for requests
--no-proxy-server
Disables the proxy server.
--proxy-auto-detect
Autodetect proxy configuration.
--proxy-pac-url=URL
Specify proxy autoconfiguration URL.
Hope this helps,
Chris
I currently test the rollout from Inventor 2015 for our company and have the same AdCefWebBrowser.exe problems on a test computer. It is a old Dell workstation, has NO anti virus software installed and the Windows Firewall is disabled.
We use a “Sophos UTM” to connect the computers to the internet and enable the proxy on it. The Internet Explorer has the path to the PAC [1] file configured, but we also enable WPAD [2] in our network.
If I start Inventor 2015 (with ShowHomeBaseOnStartup on) I get the “The browser process exits unexpectedly” error.
Then I play with the CefOptions and get the following results:
[Still get error message/crash]
[Works!]
It looks to me, as has your Chromium browser problems with WPAD/PAC?! Maybe it helps you to find the problem!

I'm having a similar issue with Inventor 2015 and 2015 with SP1.
We run a squid proxy which requires authentication so the adcefbrowser.exe is playing up.
We too have automatically detect settings applied in IE and wpad on our network to inform browsers of the proxy location.
I've played with the registry CefOptions and can't get any to work . The difference from previous posts is that squid is running on port 3128 allthough if that's the issue it seems pretty poor.
The cefoptions incantations I've tried are
--proxy-server="proxy_fqdn:3128"
--proxy-server=proxy_fqdn:3128
--proxy-server="proxy:3128"
--proxy-server=proxy:3128
--proxy-server="proxy_ip:3128"
--proxy-server="http://proxy_fqdn:3128"
--proxy-auto-detect
I didn't bother with the pac-url setting as that's already been reported as broken.
Looking at the squid logs I see nothing from adcefbrowser denied or otherwise.
My intention is if I can get adcefwebrowser to try to use the proxy to allow inventor to access the internet unauthenticated (if I have to) by checking the presence of Autodesk in the User-Agent string which I found with wireshark someting like this "acl Autodesk req_header User-Agent -i .*Autodesk.*" and I might combine that with a mac check.
Thanks for any help.
Mike
Hi i am suffering from the same but i dont know about coding.
can you help me setting it up step by step.
Thanks in advance

has no right-side scroll bar.
When I open Task Manager, why do I see five of AdCefWebBrowser.exe?
Yellow line at the top says something abut updating my graphics driver. I think you did--there was a green progress bar--but the yellow bar is still there. Clicking and double-clicking on my project doesn't open it. Aha! You want me to close and re-open. Perfectably reasonable.
Hi John,
Regarding the 5 AdCefWebBrowser.exe processes: 3 are for the Inventor My Home feature and 2 are for the Autodesk Desktop App which is used to update installed Autodesk products.
Let me know if you'd like more information.
Thank you,
Clare
