I understood your assembly is kind of a ring made of flat bars, joint together like scissors?
Bending of those flat parts haunted me so much i had to model it. Part have to maintain the length of its neutral axis to bend correctly. I'll post a sketch model of a flat bar that can be bent by dragging one end downwards. If you'll examine the model, you'll find the formulas behind it. It simply calculates the arc length in relation to radius and bend angle.
Now, making this adaptive in context you want may be a head ache and i can't arse myself to do that. You may know that all instances of the same adaptive part are acting alike, so achieving varying bend amounts would require individually named flat bars. I have not tried skeleton modeling technique myself, but i would imagine you could find your solution from there.
