Adaptive Assembly Same Part

I have a sheet metal part that I need to make adaptive. However the this
part is identical to the other part I need to make it fit. "It's the same
thing"! I just have to overlap them in the center to weld them together.
This is the way we make them in the shop and I don't want them to be
different parts or left and right pcs. ,the problem is that the part doesn't
want to adapt to itself. one pan has to stretch some in order for the two
bottoms to be flush. Do I have to save the part as two different names for
the adaptive feature to work?

Yes, you can not modify only one instance of the part , In other words if
you nplace an adaptive part in your assembly twice any time one changes, the
other will also.

If you have one of those part instances fully constrained the other part
will not be able to adapt either.

Rather than adaptivity I would use a linked spreadsheet to drive the
dimensions that you are talking about.

Although you could make it work by creating a work plane in your assy as
your adapt to terminator. I will put a quick demo in CF.

Ok I posted a file to CF, What I did was pull a work plane 25mm off of the
YZ plane in the origin folder , also I constrained the sweep path sketch to
the center point in the origin folder.

This way the work plane always stays 25 mm from the center point of the
frame. This gives you a 50 mm overlap.

If you look close you will notice that Adaptive Sheet:1 is constrained on 5
Sides where Sheet 2 is only constrained on 3.
Sheet 1 adapts Sheet 2 follows suite
