...80% of available process address solution?

What is the fix for this problem? Is it Sean's iTweak Utility?
Thinking of upgrading from INV7 to INV10. Is there some sort of 3Gig switch you have to initiate? I just got a brand new Dell with 4Gig of RAM and have been getting this message along with "!Out of Memory". Autodesk recommends 3x your RAM for Virtual memory. I changed it to 12Gig. Still get the message.
Could it be the ATI graphics card?
Thanks for any help.

How did you get 12GB of virtual memory? Windows will only let you set it to
4GB per drive. I never understood that recommendation. Are you supposed to
set up swap files on different partitions?

Is IV like MDT was, where you had to have the swap file on the same drive as
your temp file location?

I don't think that recommendation makes any sense on a machine with
multiple GB of physical memory.

iTweak simply serts the % at which this message appears. It does not
actually raise any limits.

To set the 3Gb switch, you must first be running XP Pro SP2. Then you need to edit your boot.ini file to include the 3Gb switch option. Do a search of this forum using "3Gb" as your search word. Also, microsoft and autodesk have web pages on this. What this does (as far as I understand it) is to allow your application to access 3Gb of memory, and limits the OS to 1Gb (the default is 50/50), which means that Inventor shouldn't throw up that error unless its using 2.4Gb. Hi,

I have the same problems and for me it is obvious that that comes from the
graphics card. And as by chance it is a ATI Card. Moreover this card does
not support the adjustment /3GB for XP.

I just edited my boot.ini file and opened about 6 big files (iam & idw). So far, so good. I forgot to mention, I did have a crash and got the message: Error caused by ATI Graphics Driver:
No specific solution found. That was a couple of days ago and have not had the message again. Talked to a Autodesk dealer from the Twin Cities and he said that 1.5x's your RAM
was OK for virtual memory, therefore in my case with 4096Mb
I would enter 6144Mb.
Well, we shall see what happens.
Thanks for all the input.

4096MB is the max Windows will take. How are you supposed to get 6144MB?

You'll have to bear with me, my computer knowledge is limited.
Following the path from My Computer, View System Info, ect,
...under Virtual Memory, Change, Customize size, I added 6144 to Initial size and Maximum size. Is this the right place to make the modification?

That's it. Is it accepting anythin larger than 4096? I must be missing
something, because I always (this and other computers) get the attached
error when I try to to go beyond 4096.

StanD,

I also have a fairly new Dell(670) with 4Gb of mem. But windowsXP only
detects 2,75Gb of it. I was wondering, how much does your system show within
in windows?

Christian

Dell 670 2x 3,6Ghz
4x1Gb ram
FX4400
15k SCSI raid0
