5 minutes off...

Group,
Among other issues this is a strange one:
In an crowded assembly, I do a local edit of a part, hit sketch, project in
some existing holes geometry, and want to edit those entities from reference
to normal. Window selecting those few circles takes 5 minutes computing time
at my 2.53GHz machine!
Do you see the same?

Regards,

Yes, I've been noticing (and complaining) about this since starting R6 -
hoping I wasn't the only one.

For example, in a 60 part assembly (not crowded IMO), changing the value of
a mate constraint takes about 15 seconds of waiting. If I try to spin a
part that is rotationally unconstrained, nothing happens for 10-15 seconds.
Other assemblies that were migrated at the same time, work quite normally as
they did in 5.3. I suspect my wait times would be several minutes on a
large assembly. I'm accustomed to this stuff happening as fast as I can
spin the ball and click the mouse. (dual AMD 2100's and 2 Gb ram)

Your exact problem is not occurring on my machine anymore. After
uninstalling and reloading, some things seem to be marginally better but the
wait times for updates are still unbearable. Do you see the slowdown with
other types of assembly edits?

Well - this is the only major slowdown I was seeing so far, but my coworker,
who designed the whole beast was complaining about many slowdowns, amongst
them what is called here the pregnant pause. But he has a medium powered PC
only, a 1.2GHz AMD with a Gloria III, mine is 2.53GHz P4 with a Quadro4
900XGL.

Leo,
Have you noticed any graphic slowdowns with your 900XGL? We have a couple
here and they are performing awful. If yours is running good what driver and
tweaks are you running?

Eric,
The Quadro4 900XGL is just running fine, no major slowdowns or quirks. Only
problem so far is as described the 5 minutes off, and some random delay when
zooming with the mousewheel.
I'm running the 40.41 driver from the time when it was still beta (so the
windows display prop dialog crashes)
I'm running the standard setup Dell and later on the beta driver (or IV6
respectively) provided.

Well, IV6 is slow in graphic anyway...
