Looks nice. Especially the FREE part. Can't believe it needs a 28MB plug-in for IV for the publisher.

Thanks for the heads up.

Have you actually installed this yet? The pluggin looks like it is just going to install
DA (possibly a old version at that??) I canceled out of it, but the publish won't work
now.

I downloaded it all but will have to wait until later to play with it. Thanks for the warning. I'll proceed with caution.

I got a C++ Runtime error on the publisher. Not that surprising considering
marketing hyper-fat.

I saw where it said something about additional downloads but didn't a
plug-in option. Where is it hiding?

It was on the same page.... a 28 meg download called Apprentice53.exe Just got the
feeling when I went to install it that it was just the R5.3 DA. Anyone know how big that
is....

Guess I will just try it next time I can get out of Inventor for a minute.

It's 27.9MB. http://makeashorterlink.com/?N10921CA2
I just looked at the R6 Version of DA. It says in the Readme, that you
shouldn't install on same computer with 5.3.
I was able to publish a 5.3 file, but not a 6.

I assume that if you have R6 installed OR the R6 Object Enabler (Design Tracking) then you would have the R6 apprentice server installed so I did not install the Inventor plugin they had. - Rich Thomas

Hi Rich

Hope things are going good. Did you see me wave as I drove by over Thanksgiving

I didn't install it either.. It appears it only works if the file is made in a earlier
version than R6. It did a R5.3 file of mine without any trouble but wouldn't do a R6 one.
Hopefully they update it.

No Kent, you must have been speeding. You went by to quick for me to see you:) Gotta watch it because those cops write a lot of tickets on I-90 in the Spokane area. Oh, and NEVER EVER EVER think about speeding through Ritzville unless being ticketed by small town inbred @$$ is your idea of a good time. How are things going at Strobe?

I suppose if we all emailed infograph it might encourage them to speed up (not to be confused with speeding) the R6 support. - Rich

I went to the vote for new formats and entered IV6. I may even give them a call and ask about IV6 support.

I wish this would work, SOON. I am considering purchasing Spinfire at almost 700, but it works with iv6. I really need a good 3d viewer that give the client a nice looking easy to use and small d/l program. Spinfire so far has been it.

Infograph? Are you talking about Myriad? Because we're recommending that to our customers, and if it won't view our IV6 files then (edited).

Where did you vote? I can't seem to find the page on the site. Maybe if we bombard them
with R6 request

Just got off the phone with a salesperson from ModelPress and inquired about when R6 would be supported. I was told that she would check into it and call me back later today. I really hope this works, it could save me 700 bucks on spinfire.

Those of you that have used this under a 5.3 enviro what did you think? What do I need to install on my end to make the software work? I am planning on d/l the viewer and loading it and 5.3 on my laptop and paly with it over the weekend.

I got a response from the CEO to an email I sent them:

"Hi Larry,

We got this email today and someone sent this to us, but I would like thank
who ever sent it as welcomed feedback. Although the product is free, we
want it to be a useful tool that works well. We will correct our web site
to indicate that we have only certified the current released product with V5
Inventor. We are in the process of changing the interface to V6 Apprentice
(which in our experience has been required with every Inventor release so
far). We use Apprentice to give us accuracy with representing the model.
Usually some modification is needed to support newer versions of Apprentice
and the C++ exception is due to an API interface change using V6. This is
just the normal process of keeping two toolsets integrated together the
continue to progress nicely with additional or changed functionality. The
really cool thing is that the folks at Inventor are committed to keep things
open (and free) for companies like us to add value. This isn't something
that all CAD companies get.

I'll send you an email update when we post a new version of the publisher
supporting V6. I thank you for the frank input and again we are very
serious about producing an exceptional tool for web publishing 3D models.
We will address the issue as quickly as we can.
