3D Scanner

Hello,

I am reverse engineering an automotive part.  I was able to use someone's  Faro brand 3D scanner but I dont know what kind of file or the process to import it into Autodesk Inventor  2014?   Has anyone out there done this and could you please tell me what format does it need to be in?  A Stl. file will open in Inventor but I cannot edit with it.

You could download the AutodeskMeshEnabler.msi to convert the stl to solid - but as stl is facted planar triangles - it would still be of little use other than for reference.

I think anything you get from the scanner will only be useful as reference.
