3d model from autocad to inventor

What is the best way to bring an autocad 3d model into inventor as a part or assembly. Right now I am creating a stp file then bring it into inventor and save as ipt.

Regards,

Tom

File Open(Option Import) of native DWG seems pretty easy to me.

If you're having to ask those questions, I suspect you missed part of JD's instructions.  You can't just open the file, you have to click the Options button on the Open dialog box, and pick "Import."

Once you've gotten past that point, the results don't look any different than you'd get from a STEP file, so you should know what to do from there.
