3D Human models for Inventor (2012 thread)

Hello. I have searched and found results from years prior.I know this is a duplicate thread but there hasn't been one for while.

Are there any newer human models for Inventor? I currently use iMike but it is rather cheesy looking.

The Human Factors plugin for Solidworks looks like exactly what I want. Has anyone ever bought it and tried exporting the models into a format for use in Inventor? I'd like to avoid using the cheesy free models for sales literature.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Ben

Or just fix what you find "cheesy" about imike.. Heck give him a mohawk if you want..

Thank you both greatly. I usually have better luck finding stuff without asking first, but those links are very helpful!

The message below was posted a few months ago.  Still sorta cheesy for a 3D human, but at least the sizes are correct:

Anthropometric Manikins Available
iMan and iMandy are updated versions of iMike, originally created by Michael Ficarra. I updated the embedded spreadsheet to create accurately sized anthropometric manikins. Dimensions are based on 1988 data from DOD-HDBK-743A.  iMan and iMandy include the 1st, 5th, 25th, 50th, 75th, 90th, 95th and 99th percentile dimensions.  Inventor 2010 or later required.

I've attached a picture of iMan, iMandy and the original iMike for comparison.  I wanted to attach the iManikins file here, but it exceeds the forum's size limit.  Use the link below to download from my website:

PS: My website includes screenshots of a small aircraft developed with MDT and Inventor. Check out the Photo (CAD) Gallery.

Ok, I have Iman.

I set him to 75th %ile (about 6 foot)

I add our company logo as a decal to the torso and the hat...looks great.

I set him in a pose (say climbing ladder).

I derive him into a part for use in the project as a reference part.

When I create the derive, my decals disappear!

Would this be a BUG or am I missing something?

Hi  richos69,

It's not a bug, and you're not doing anything wrong, it's just that Derive Part does not support decals. So you probably need to place the decal again in the derived part.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

thanks Curtis

I thought that might be the case (and is what I had done as a workaround in the mean time...bit painfull though...created heaps of extra work.)

Anyone from autodesk care to elaborate why decals are not supported by derive and when should we expect derive to function properly with decals.

Does anyone have access to human child models? Anywhere from age 2 up to age 12 possibly?
