link Revit to Inventor

Can I link revit model to Inventor 2020 or 2021 so when something is changed in revit model then it will be automaticly changed in linked model in Inventor?

Hello goran.jutrisa,

Inventor 2021 opens Revit models as Reference or Convert models. Reference maintains a link to the revit model and you get notifications of changes to the revit model and can update the local reference if you want.

  1. In Inventor 2021, click Open and change the file type to .rvt
  2. Navigate to the Revit model and select it.
  3. In the Import dialog, select reference and wait for the revit model views to populate the list (lower section of dialog).
  4. Select the 3D view you want in Inventor.

For the best performance select a 3D view with just the data you need to get the job done.

Hi, I've imported the Revit file into Assembly as a reference in Inventor,

Now need to link size and location of some cutouts/ holes of an object from that Revit file to other Inventor file.

In that assembly (with Revit file as reference) Tried to create and sketch on a plane, projected edges and cutouts/ holes, dimension all.

In the other Inventor file, used that dimension to control parts size and cutouts.

Unfortunately after the Revit file makes any changes, the referenced breaks!- and the link is gone- and the whole purpose of linking

Hi! If possible, please share the files that exhibit the behavior (Inventor files, Revit file before the change and after the change).

Many thanks!
