We are going add a seat for Inventor in our company, all the other licenses are from the old license type and are bought ( without subscription ) they are fixed at 2014.
Is it possible to install a older version with a rental license?
When your purchase (okay rent) Autodesk products you are placed on a term based subscription which allows you to use the current release version (2017) and there legacy versions (2014, 2015, and 2016). Another thing you may want to consider is looking at the Manufacturing Collection package. Based on the included software it may end up being cheaper than just getting Inventor but itself but it all depends on your needs.

² Purchasing is something I give money for that I own. The new license is I do not own, I can only use it for a specified term so I believe this is rental service
