Inventor Project File is Read Only

I don't know why my project file is in read-only and I want to create custom content libraries to put into this project. Thanks!

Either it's open in another application (Inventor, for instance), or its Windows Read-only flag is set.  You didn't give any information about what you've tried so far, so it's difficult to narrow anything down.

Easiest thing to try would be to close Inventor and start it again.  Next would be to re-boot the computer.  Report back here with your findings.

It could also be checked out if you have vault.

Our admin has the project file checked out permanently to stop changes.

Hi! Your screenshot shows that  the project is a Vault project. You need to check out the ipj file from Vault so it can be edited.

Many thanks!

How would I do this? Sorry, I'm relatively new to this type of procedure

Also, were going to update to Inventor 2021 so could that be the issue?

If you're new to vault you probably shouldn't be messing about with the project file. You can do a lot of damage.

You can check the project file out from vault itself or from the vault addin for inventor.

Hi Matt,

How did you create the project file? Do you use Vault? Please share the ipj file here. It will be much easier to tell where the problem is than look at the screen shots.

Many thanks!
