How to turn off constraint audio?

Can anyone tell me how to turn off the annoying audio "pop" I get when inserting constraints with my PC's speakers on? I've set my Sound Scheme to "No Sounds" in Windows and no effect. Is there an Inventor switch for this?
I'm using R10, soon to install 11.

Thanks,
Jay Rogers

From the weekly FAQ

Q) How can I stop Inventor from making a noise when I apply a constraint?
A) In version 11, go to the Tools|Application Options dialog and select the
assembly tab. Uncheck the "Constraint Audio Notification" option.

In versions prior to R11, go to the Bin directory in the Inventor Install
Dir
(default C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor x\Bin)and rename or delete
connect.wav

Or, more appropriately, replace it with "car_crash.wav"?

Remember that each time you re-install or apply a service pack that it will reset this (it will add the WAV file back as it thinks the installation is "broken").

You might try adjusting the Volume Mixer as well.

@whamlin ,

Just an FYI for you or others that might find this in the future, this thread was from 2006, and since that time Autodesk has added a built in options to disable the audio notification, which can be found by going to the Tools tab > Application Options button > Assembly tab > Relationship Audio Notification option

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

You've replied to a thirteen year-old posting.  Inventor has had the option to turn off the constraint sound for many releases now (Application Options > Assembly tab > Relationship audio notification).

Update: I see I'm a bit late to the party...

Hello, currently my coworkers computer keeps rechecking the sound affect, is there any reason/solution for this or should we look into creating a macro that automatically mutes inventor

Hi Matthew,

The Application Options are saved in an xml file stored in %AppData% -> Autodesk -> Inventor 202x. It sounds that there is a system process resetting this user file regularly. Or, the user profile prohibits the user from saving such change.

Do a test. Try making the change and close Inventor. Go to %AppData% and check "UserApplicationOptions.xml" date. Is it recent?

Many thanks!

it appears to only happen on randomly when constraining assembly (ex: click fastener first then assem reference= no noise ; but if we do this in reverse= noise)
