Numbering scheme - No link between Inventor and Vault

Hello,

I did a numbering scheme in Vault to create a firm standard easy to follow but I am disapointed of it's performance. Maybe i'm missing out on something or just don't understand the thinking behind this feature.

I see that naming works fine in Inventor considering all the files are local, but this tool is not in anyway linked to the Vault. The user still as to check the next available part number before he saves. That is exactly was we want to avoid. Is it possible to auto-generate names based on information contained in Vault?

Thanks,

I'm at home so I can't check anything. But the auto numbering should work fine. On save in Inventor you get pop up window with choices for the numbering scheme ( you can have more than 1 scheme).

This scheme also works for Vault Rename, but sadly not for Copy Design. There should be no need to check numbers in Vault for the next available number.

You will need to supply more info and maybe some screen shots for us to help you further.
