Max. file size

Does anyone know if there is a maximun file size the Iv can
hanle? I once and a while try to input a 45+ meg step file
from another cad program and the computer will not handle it. Is this a computer problem or software limits? Getting a new box but need to know what will handle this size of file.
Thanks
Gerry

You would probably get more answers if you asked in the newsgroup for the version of
Inventor you are using. This group is for VBA and customization. Below are links to the
other groups.

When you import a step file I believe it has to do a lot of computations to bring the file
in. So if you look at the actual memory footprint of Inventor it is going to be a lot
bigger than the size of the file. MDT seems to do a little better job of brining in step
files and once you get it in there, you can stitch it and save it as a sat file that
Inventor can work with.
