SDK installation fails in windows 8 x64.
Can you share a bit more info to us:
1. If you log on win8 with admin priviledge?
2. Have you the UAC on or off?
3. Which Win8 version you are using?
I tested the installer here and could not see the error dialog.
Inventor API is not compatable with Windows 8.
I reported an issue durring the beta testing. The problem was confirmed and I was told it was logged as defect 1493613.
Ah yeah, it is about the <requestedExecutionLevel level="asInvoker" uiAccess="false" /> and UAC on. Current workaround might be disabling the UAC.
Glad to hear that it works now.
"Inventor API is not compatable with Windows 8"
Please could someone from Autodesk comment on this one?
Is this still an issue? Is there a hotfix / guidelines I´m not aware of (other than Rockys reply)?
It is compatable with windows 8 . By changing full rights to windows temp folder the installer can be used, Install VBA 7 (64 bit) seperatly from the installation disk. then every thing will be fine.
Thx for the reply! I´m not concerned about the SDK install, so I´m slightly out of topic here. Sorry. It´s the API as Peteh mentions I´m wondering about, since we have run into some crashes on win8 with an addin running running fine on w7, but hopefully it´s something else than API compatibility ( I ran into this topic searching for win8 issues ).. I´m on C#, VS2012, & 64b.
The Inventor API is compatible with Windows 8 and it is a supported platform. I have several custom add-ins that run fine on Win8 x64 and there is no specific issue we are aware of. If you experience troubles on windows 8, please let us know in details.

Philippe.
Durring the beta I discovered that if having a .net program running as administrator I could not start Inventor 2014.
I reported the problem and provided a sample in the beta forum and the problem was confirmed by "yuhanzhang" and logged as defect #1493613
I do not know how to check the defect status.
Hi Peteh,
This change request has been confirmed but is still pending unfortunately.

Philippe.
