DWG to IDW problem

I'm trying to insert a DWG cad into and Inventor drawing sketch. This is a small simple 2D cad, but Inventor just keeps running on, then have to bail out. I read as much as I can but still can't find a solution. 2014 pro on Win 7  w/ Service pack 2 and a hot fix.  Reinstaled Trueview also. Thanks.

This seems an Invenor General question so I would post it in that forum.

I would clean the Autocad drawing as much as possible (use flatten command at the end) and import one geometry / block at a time, no dimensions, border etc. just the geometry.

Don't have one sketch with all the geometry as well. Try and have as many needed (one per feature ideal). When creating new feature, I found that it can hang on geometry selection if you are pointing at the same sketch. The more features you have the slower it is to select sketch profiles from the same shared sketch.
