Whatever I try I cannot get Autodesk Inventor to install on Windows 8.1 64 bit, I usually get an error such as
Error 1920. Service 'Autodesk Simulation Moldflow MITSI 2014 Job Manager' (mitsijm2014) failed to start.
I have tried many different things including...
1) installing different versions of Inventor (2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 etc)
2) installing using all the suggested methods (download, virtual assistant, etc.)
3) updating to the latests versions of .NET runtime, Visual C runtime, DirectX, etc.
4) renaming msvcr100.dll in C:\Windows\System32” to msvcr100.bak
5) running the installer as an administrator
None of these suggestions make any difference. Indeed, if I manually attempt to start the mitsijm.exe program I also get an error saying it failed to start, the code was 0xC00007b
There is obviously something simple preventing mitsijm from starting, but I have no idea what it is. Any help would be appreciated.
I have seen some reports on tomshardware.com that that error code can be related to mixing 32 and 64 bit versions of things. Maybe somehow Autodesk has installed the wrong version of something somewhere?
All of these attempts have left a lot of Autodesk junk laying around on my PC and uninstalling everything Autodesk from the control panel doesn't help. Maybe there is some better way to cleanly uninstall everything.
I have exactly the same problem and no real solution can be found - but many people has this problem. I also tried to install all mentioned versions, but with no luck. I will definitely not reinstall my computer system (Win 7 64). One would think that because this problem apears more years Autodesk would have same clear solution, but probabely not. Real shame for such comapny.

rename msvcr100.dll to msvcr100.bak. This file is located here: C:\Windows\System32
Have you did this steps?:
All of the solutions that Product Support has provided for this issue are useless and a waste of time trying... I just ran in to this issue when trying to install SP1 for Inventor 2015,: Error 1920. Service 'Autodesk Simulation Moldflow MITSI 2015 Job Manager' (mitsijm) failed to start.
I was able to track the problem down to a missing file: "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2015\Moldflow\bin\mitsijm.exe"
The simple fix for this error:
1. Browse to the folder where the installer extracted all the installation files (C:\Autodesk in my case). Search the folder for mitsijm.exe and copy the file. (It was in "C:\Autodesk\Autodesk_Inventor_2015_English_Win_64bit_R1_dlm\x64\Inventor\PF\Autodesk\Inventor 2015\Moldflow\bin" on my system, replace 2015 with 2014 if that's what you're using of course.)
2. Browse to "C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2015\Moldflow\bin\" and paste the file here. If you're using the x86 version of Inventor on a Windows x64 system the path will be "C:\Program Files (x86)\Autodesk\Inventor 2015\Moldflow\bin".
To confirm this solved the issue, press WindowsKey+R (or Start > Run), type in services.msc and press OK or hit enter. Right click on "Autodesk Simulation Moldflow MITSI 2015 Job Manager" and click Start. If all is well the service should start with no errors. You can now install the product or update.
P.S. Where can I send my resume? Seems like Autodesk could use a real tech on their support team.. 😉
Thank you very much for suggested solutions, but I'm getting new computer tomorrow, so I hope this won't be neccessary anymore. But I thank you again and I think many others will find this usefull.

Renaming und copying does not help. I've uninstalled all Microsoft Visual C++ Products (2008, 2010 and 1012). After that I reinstalled Inventor 2016 and now it works. Backup your system before uninstalling software!
I gave up with all the "solutions" posted - none of them worked. In the end I bit the bullet and resinstalled Windows. That was a major pain in the butt because I had Windows 8.1 upgraded from Windows 8.0 which means I had to go all the way back to my original DVD release of Windows 8, install the service packs, then install 8.1 from the store, then upgrade that etc., etc. Finally after all that I was able to install Inventor.
Autodesk really ought to get their act togther and figure out why their product installation gets so confused. I suspect the solution would have been pretty simple if someone actually bothered to get to the bottom of it.
hey,
after exhausting all methods i have stumbled across yours, though when i try to find mitsijim.exe all i have is mitsijim on its own?
this has to be the worst software i have ever tried to download! haha

Edit: You don't see the .exe part because it's hidden by default (windows folder view settings). Just copy that file to the appropriate location indicated in my original post.
Mitsijm.exe is located in my inventor moldflow bin folder.
The mitsijm.exe creates a message when computer atempts to shut down.
"waiting for open file mitsijm.exe to close before shutdown"
Win 10 64 bit running Inventor pro.

I’ve just this week had to do a reinstall of Windows 7, and all required software thereafter. Fun fun. The last piece of this puzzle is Inventor 2017. I’m having the same issue;
Tried all the past suggestions; rename msvcr100.dll to msvcr100.bak, uninstall all Microsoft Visual C++, restart computer etc
None of it works of course
Is there anything else out there, or do I just continue on modelling in free hand?
Cheers
And no, I won’t be doing another install of Windows 7…
