Visual Basic 6.0 IDE triggers AutoCAD 2011 install

Hi, after installing AutoCAD 2011 32 bit on my computer running Windows Vista Business, launching my Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 IDE automatically triggers an AutoCAD 2011 installation window saying "please wait while windows configures AutoCAD 2011".
It seems to be doing nothing but it's very annoying since it also happens while compiling any VB6 project.
It looks like AutoCAD 2011 is messing up the Visual Basic 6.0 IDE.
Uninstalling AutoCAD 2011 (takes for ever btw) and installing again does not help
Reinstalling or reparing Visual Basic 6.0 doesn't help either.
Please help !!

Just an update to this problem.
Another program called IconCool Editor 5.91 is also triggering the AutoCAD 2011 "wait while windows configures" window.
Also, some VB6 dll's running under AutoCAD 2010 are also triggering that same AutoCAD 2011 configure window.

This is happening because something with the other applications you are using is triggering the operating system and the Windows Installer to heal applications. Check the Windows Application Event logs. There should be entries for the event that is the cause and the resource that AutoCAD requires. Knowing what that resource is is required to determine the solution.

Thank you Douglas.
This is what I got in the Windows Application Event logs (my Vista OS is in spanish) :

Error al detectar el componente "{456965E1-E4C8-B8A8-7068-C900ED8230AD}" de la característica "P" del producto "{5783F2D7-9001-0409-0002-0060B0CE6BBA}". No existe el recurso "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WSCommCntr2.CommCntrChannel\CLSID\".

Product "{5783F2D7-9001-0409-0002-0060B0CE6BBA}" is

Error al detectar la característica "MS_Core" del producto "{5783F2D7-9001-0409-0002-0060B0CE6BBA}" durante la solicitud del componente "{FC3E0B6E-F62B-11D1-B144-00C04F990B2B}"

And I can´t find component "{FC3E0B6E-F62B-11D1-B144-00C04F990B2B}" in the registry.

What if any REG_SZ (Registry string values) are there in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WSCommCntr2.CommCntrChannel\CLSID?

I am assuming the reason you posted this issue is that the heeling instance of the Installer does not actually resolve this. Is this the case? I would expect that the healing or a repair/reinstall would resolve the entries here. Does it resolve them if you go to the Control Panel, choose Programs and Features, then click on AutoCAD 2011 to perform a repair or reinstall?

There is no HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WSCommCntr2.CommCntrChannel\CLSID in my registry

and I just found out that I get an "access denied" error when trying to access any of the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\WSCommCntr2.CommCntrChannel keys
Seems like a security or priviliges issue. My user is the administrator.

You assume correctly.
The installer cannot resolve this issue and neither going to Control Panel and repairing or reinstalling AutoCAD 2011.

These keys should permissions for Administrators (Full Control and Read), Creator Owner (Special Permissions), Power Users (Read and Special Permissions), System Full (Control and Read), and Users (Read). These are the values on my computer.

Looking deeper Power Users has allow for all but Full Control, Create Link, Write DAC, and Write Owner. Users has allow for Query Value, Enumerate Subkeys, Notify, and Read Control.

There are a lot of keys in the registry that may be damaged. Do you have any set restore points? You might try going back to them and see what the permissions are and try a repair install. Did you run a registry cleaner? If so choose a restore point from before it was used? It might be time to flatten the box and reinstall a fresh operating system.

Well, looking at the registry, it seems that only these keys have the "access denied" problem
These keys are created by the AutoCAD 2011 install, so choosing a restore point won't help
since it would be the restore point just before the AutoCAD 2011 install.
And I don't think an OS reinstall should be the answer. If I uninstall 2011 the problem goes away
so my impression is that there is something not right with the AutoCAD 2011 installer

We had similar problems with 2008 and the solution was to install Vba
msi-packages

VBAOF11.MSI
VBAOF11I.msi

Thank you John. We thought the problem might be VBA related so we installed the VBA enabler for AutoCAD 2011 even though we don´t need it.
But that did not make a difference.
Now looking at that VBA enabler package, we don't see any VBAOF11.MSI files.
If those files are part of the VBA 6 SDK then we don't have access to them.

Well, just in case anybody else has this problem, we fixed it using subinacl.exe from microsoft

We now believe that the cause of this problem was a failed first installation of ACAD 2011. The first download of ACAD 2011 had a problem and caused the failed installation (don't remember the error now). We downloaded the software again and this time the instalation went well. But after that we begun having the registry rights and ownership problems.

Hope this can help somebody else.
