Vault Pro 2015 Cleint - Error 997, Overlapped I/O operation is in progress

Installation fails with the dialog "Error 997, Operlapped I/O operations is in progress"

Windows 8.1 - nothing all that interesting about the system.

Here's the log:

That error could be due to a Windows profile issue. I suggest:

  1. Login to Windows as a non-domain local administrator.
  2. Disable or preferably uninstall anti-virus.
  3. Turn off UAC.
  4. Install Vault client.

Also stop the backburner service if it was installed from the Autodesk suite previously.

The computer is not part of a domain or workgroup.  There is only one user on the machine.

Verified that there was no "Backburner" service listed in the services control panel.

Ran "run as administrator" on Setup.exe

Still has the same problem.

Can someone confirm that Vault 2015 has been tested with Windows 8.1 after an Inventor installation?

Yes.  It works with 8.1.

I am having this same problem with the installation of Autodesk 3Ds.  Any help on resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

I wish someone from the Autodesk install team would provide a way to
collect more diagnostics for this. and/or put some effort behind it.

Here's what I've got so far:

1. doesn't seem to be related to KB2918614 as some have suggested

2. doesn't seem to be related to running out of tmp space

3. doesn't seem to be related to virus/backup software (a common diversion)

4. doesn't seem to be related to other processes running.

---

Are you, by chance running the installation from a local/fast SSD drive?

I believe it has something to do with the handoff between the copied files
area created by the top level installer and the secondary installer for the
actual application.

Can you run the .MSI installation directly?

I am getting error 997 too.  How do you stop the backburner?
