Is it legal for a company to use network licenses on their WAN across different countries within Europe (actually the EU)?
It seems to be legal for the US and Canada.
Our Autodesk SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT Worldwide (AIS 11) states:
"2.1 License Grant. Autodesk grants You a [...] limited license to use copies of the Software in the jurisdiction in which you acquire the Software, in accordance with the applicable User Documentation, within the scope of the License Parameters."
Our Autodesk SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT U.S./Canada (AIS 2009) states however:
"2.1 License Grant. Autodesk grants You a [...] limited license to Install and use [...] the Software and User Documentation in Your Territory, in accordance with the applicable User Documentation and within the scope of the License Parameters."
The definition of Territory is:
"1.9 “Territory” means the country in which You acquire the Software, unless (i) you acquire the Software in a member country of the European Union or the European Free Trade Association, in which the case “Territory” means all the countries of the European Union and the European Free Trade Association; or (ii) otherwise specified in the User Documentation."
Any idea what's correct?
