Help - getting p-off with situation.
My system is running windows 7 professional - the normal uninstall wouldn't work. So I removed the folders manually & edited the registry - as per the "removing autocad software products" idiots guide on the web site.
Still when I try to reload the new CD of the program plant 3d 2011 the install wont continue as it still thinks the program is installed on the computer. As far as I can tell all folders etce etc has now been removed - any helpers!!!
Thanks
Gary
Hi Gary,
If the application is still listed in the Programs and Features list follow Travis’ Windows Installer CleanUp suggestion here.
If not it requires resolving registry edits you might have done outside the steps in the Technical Solution you refer to. Can you explain any additional Registry edits if you did them?
Douglas
Hi
A huge big thanks - I should have asked earlier.
Down loaded the program you suggested - & it sorted it out. Problem was sorted out with a few mins - I spent hours messing about.
Kind Regards
Gary
That is what we are all here for. Thank you for the update.
Hi,
Spoke too soon.
I have never had so much trouble loading up the autocad software before. It now gets part way through the installation & crashes out - see attached screen shot. Are these problems all related to windows 7? Is there a work around?
Thanks & Regards
Gary
Most of these errors 1402 errors for this apparent address are because you have already installed this product and the uninstall or reinstall of the product did not complete properly. Causing some keys to be left with bad ACL’s (permissions) in the Registry. This work around here is for Windows XP SP2, Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, or Windows 7.
Normal Registry edit warnings should apply here. Export a backup before you make any edits.
1. Open Regedit and browse to the key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Installer\UserData\S-1-5-18\Components
2. Right Click on Components and select Permissions.
3. Click Advanced.
4. Select the “Owner” tab.
5. Select the Administrators (Group) as owner, then Click Apply.
7. Then Select the Checkbox that says “Replace owner on sub containers and objects”, then Click apply.
8. Browse back to the Permissions tab, select the Check box that says “Replace all child objects with inheritable permissions from this object”, then Click apply.
Let us know how it works out.
Hi,
Thanks that sorted out that problem - the program got further along in the installation then the next error pops up - see attached. When you press retry & it seems not to do anything!

Gary
Looks like an issue reading the disc in your D:\ drive. You might copy the installation discs to a folder on your local HDD and run setup from there.
Hi,
Operating system is Windows 7 professional on 64 bit m/c
I have never had so much trouble loading up the autocad software before. It now gets part way through the installation & crashes out - see attached screen shot. Are these problems all related to windows 7, I had been an XP user for years without a hitch? Is there a work around to get it loaded & going?
Thanks & Regards
Gary
That's a problem with your Windows 7 and not the Autodesk software. You are going to have to overwrite the ownership permissios of the components in the registry. This is not a fun fix, btw. It can prove to be time consuming...
