Unable to run Mudbox after one successful run.

I've recently installed Mudbox 2011 on my MacBook Pro. After installing for the first time, the program opened and I saw the product activation screen. I clicked to Activate it, but the program froze up and eventually closed (or I had to close it eventually, I don't remember specifically).

Open re-opening Mudbox, I was able to use the product and work. I saved a project, closed out and though everything was fine. However when I went to work on it again, I clicked the icon for Mudbox, it tried to open for awhile and I was shown an error.

The error reads:
License not obtained
Tried Mudbox 2011 (498C1 2011.0.0.F), error 2

License method: set by installer to 'standalone'
Lic. file override: environment variable MUDBOX_ALT_EN is not set

I've attempted to re-install Mudbox 2-3 times, even completely removing everything before hand. And I still get this error constantly, with nothing I can do to resolve it. Any help would be appreciated.

I would delete the following folders:

/Applications/Autodesk/Mudbox*
/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Adlm/

I would delete the following files.  Do not delete any of the Adobe files in this folder!

/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/FLEXnet/adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data
/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/FLEXnet/adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data_backup.001

Reinstall Mudbox.  I would install it as trial first and then try to activate later.

NOTE:  This will also reset your Maya (Mac),  AutoCAD (Mac), Smoke (Mac) activations, so you may need reinstall all of the Autodesk software.

Ok, problem. I got rid of:

Applications/Autodesk/Mudbox.

But I didn't have:

 Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Adlm/

or

Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/FLEXnet/adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data
Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/FLEXnet/adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data_backup.001

I didn't even have a FLEXnet Publisher folder in Preferences. So...that's probably not good, right?

Can you send me some screen captures of the subfolders?  It is odd that it doesn't show up.

Hi,

I`ve just registered to the forum because I am getting a problem when trying to run the Autodesk MudBox App.

I just bought my license of the Autodesk MudBox FULL 2012 - US595,00, did the download and installed everything okay...but when I run the app I get the exactly same message as the first poster here as follows bellow:

License not obtained

Tried Mudbox 2012 (498D1 2012.0.0.F), error 20

License method: set by installer to 'standalone'

Lic. file override: environment variable MUDBOX_ALT_EN is not set

SO, What should I do???!! All this price for getting a ERROR?

So bad...

Please...some help would be very appreciated as soon as possible!

Rodrigo.

I have been using Mudbox 2012 for months and suddenly error 20 appeared and I cannot finish my work. I tried your solution but my computer does not contain the files

/Applications/Autodesk/Mudbox*
/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/Adlm/

/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/FLEXnet/adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data
/Library/Preferences/FLEXnet Publisher/FLEXnet/adskflex_00691b00_tsf.data_backup.001

and I'm running Windows 8.1.

I also installed 3 service packs for Mubox 2012 claiming to fix the issue.

Do you acuallty know how to fix this problem?
